Magnetostructural coupling in ilmenite-type NiTiO3

We report the ground state magnetic structure and in-field magnetostrictive effects of $\mathrm{Ni}\mathrm{Ti}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ studied by means zero-field single-crystal neutron diffraction, magnetization, high-resolution dilatometry experiments. Zero-field diffraction on single crystals confirms an easy-plane antiferromagnet with a multidomain state. Upon application external fields, shows evolution domains spins perpendicular to applied field. The rotation in exhibits pronounced lattice changes magnetostriction measurements. see magnetization measurements scale each other accordance phenomenological theories, revealing strong coupling lattice.
